Bolzano - Dolomites, Italy

After breakfast met down in the lobby to catch the bus to Bolzano.   Did a buddy check to make sure every traveler was present.  Met our driver Paul and then started our journey to Bolzano.  Along the way, Andrew mentioned points of interest, history, inform us about the culture along with travel tips.

About half way, we stopped at rest areas to have a break, go to the restroom and have a snack.  Before arriving at our next destination, Andrew would go over the map in the book, review speaking phrases and would inform us of the time he would be leading an orientation walk of Bolzano.

On this orientation walk, we ended at the Museo Archeologico dell'Alto (Otzi 5,300 year old man frozen in ice) - Andrew spoke with the Docent and our group went right in to take the tour. This was well worth the 9 Euro each for the tour.  This is a must see. It was just amazing what was preserved in the ice and the information scientists have uncovered with this discovery.

Spent the day hiking in the Dolomites - while hiking we were being serenaded by cow bells - I truly felt like Heidi from the book when she helps Peter with the goats. Words and pictures cannot express the grandeur of the Alps.

On Thursday nights, Parkhotel Laurin offers hotel guests a buffet for 10 euro each.  Steve and I decided to attend.  The setting was beautiful and the food was great.

Steve and I decided to order some manhattans at the bar and spoke with the bartender. He schooled us on using different whiskey's and vermouth to make the drinks.

Nothing is better than speaking with the local people and letting them know when you appreciate their service.
