Steve is the planner of our traveling excursions. He would spend hours, picking where to go, where to stay, without knowing if he made the right choice.  I, on the other hand,  handle everything else from packing, to having all documents and reservations in a folder organized by each day.

So you are asking yourself, "How can I pack everything I need for 2 weeks without bringing a lot of luggage?" Well Rick Steves tells you how.  Each book has a checklist of what to pack. Steve and I purchased Rick Steves travel bags for our first trip and we use them for all of our travels and vacations.  I follow the checklist pretty much, but on the Alpine tour it was the first time Steve and I took our hiking pants.  What is great about these pants is the legs zip off and  they become shorts.  So it is like two for one.

I also wash our clothes which prevents having to go to the laundromat. I wash our undergarments whenever we are at a new location.  For pants and shirts, I spot clean. The first thing I do, after checking in at the hotel, is to wash and hang the items on my clothesline.  This way the items should be dry by the time we leave to go to the next destination.  After you begin to travel, you will learn what works for you from the checklist based on your needs and lifestyle.
